Position Summary:
Southern Fire Sprinkler, Inc is seeking a Kitchen Fire Suppression/Fire Extinguisher Technician. This position requires the ability to service, inspect, install and repair kitchen suppression systems and fire extinguishers for established commercial customers on a scheduled basis and must be available for on call rotation.
Compensation
- Hourly pay - based on experience
- Commission paid out monthly
Job Duties:
- Inspecting, installing, repairing pre-engineered restaurant fire suppression systems manufactured by Amerex, ANSUL, Pyro Chem, Range Guard and Piranha.
- Thorough understanding of NFPA, manufacturer and local fire codes for restaurant fire suppression systems.
- Performing on-site emergency troubleshooting of fire suppression systems.
- Identifying NFPA code and non-conformance issues.
- Maintain proper documentation for all work performed.
- Perform fire marshal tests and inspections.
- Available for on-call rotation

Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong organizational, documentation, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven customer service skills and ability to interact professionally with employees and vendors.
- Ability to speak and write in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools.
- 4+ years of relevant work experience.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. (must be insurable by company insurance carrier.
- Must pass pre-employment background checks and drug screenings, with ongoing compliance throughout employment.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting and moving equipment over 70 lbs, and working in challenging positions such as climbing ladders, using high lift equipment, and working in confined spaces.
- Must have knowledge and understanding of all NFPA codes.
- Willing to work varied hours, nights, early morning and weekend shift when needed.
- Must have excellent attendance and can handle responsibility.
- Must be comfortable working on ladders 6 to 12ft and on lifts.
- Ability to lift up to 70lbs, to work overhead and in unusual or small spaces such as attics and crawl spaces
- Skills to communicate well with customers and explain the work being done and any repairs that are necessary.
- Skills to write well and be very detailed in your write up on service work.
- Must be well organized and be able to keep track of service tickets and process all required documents for each service performed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4 or more years of experience in kitchen suppression and fire extinguishers.
- Advanced understanding of kitchen suppression system and fire extinguishers, including installation, maintenance, and repair.
- In-depth knowledge of NFPA codes and standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively with managers.
