JOB DESCRIPTION:
FIRE EXTINGUISHER INSPECTOR
Summary
The Fire Extinguisher Inspector will inspect, service and maintain Portable Fire Extinguishers as well as other life safety equipment to new and current customers.
Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
The following are the duties and responsibilities, qualifications and requirements for the Fire Extinguisher Inspector.
Ø Knowledgeable of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA-10) fire code standard.
Ø Inspect, service and perform maintenance on portable fire extinguishers to meet the NFPA-10 standard.
Ø Assure the customer’s facility meets also meets NFPA-10 standard.
Ø Perform site survey and educate customer in reference to the NFPA-10 standard.
Ø Meet or exceed company uniform and grooming standards.
Ø Meet or exceed company standards concerning the cleanliness of vehicle and tools.
Ø Monitor vehicle for service needs and repairs.
Ø Knowledgeable of and meet Department of Transportation (DOT) vehicle requirements.
Ø Responsible for understanding and abiding the employee’s manual.
Ø Responsible for understanding and complying with the safety requirements while on customer’s property.
Ø Responsible for understanding and complying with the safety requirements while on company property and in company vehicles.
Ø Perform other related duties as assigned and as necessary depending on the situation and location.
Qualifications & Requirements
Ø Strong customer skills, Communicate well with others.
Ø Ability to meet and interact well with customers, fellow co-workers, and others.
Ø Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written.
Ø Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
Ø Needs to be able to work independently.
Ø Must be able to work with small tools.
Ø Ascend and descend a ladder or stairs.
Ø Must be able to lift and transport up to 55 pounds.
Ø Must be able to read and communicate in the English language.
Ø Flexibility to adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, hectic work environment.
Ø Must pass a driver’s license check as well as a drug test.
Ø Must be able to pass a national certified test in reference to the job hired for.
Ø Must have a high school diploma or a GED certificate.
Physical requirements & job environment
All candidates for this position should be reasonably physically fit and capable of picking a 55 pound tool, piece of equipment, piece of material or fire extinguishers and move it either to a vehicle, job site, customer’s location, our shop, etc.
