Kitchen Systems / Fire Extinguisher Tech
Join our skilled team of technicians as a Kitchen Systems Fire Extinguisher (KSFE) Technician in our Ashland, VA location. In this role, you will use your experience as a KSFE technician to install, inspect and repair kitchen fire suppression systems and fire extinguishers across central Virginia (mostly within a 250 mile radius of Ashland).

Marmic Fire & Safety Company (MFS) is the successful expansion of Joplin Fire Protection (JFP) which began in 1951 with Charles and Mary Lou Teeter. After decades of practicing customer-centric service JFP added territories in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arkansas with a second generation of the Teeter Family at the helm. By installing and servicing security and access control systems it demonstrates a well-rounded concern for the protection of life and property. Additionally, selling personal protection equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, reflective vests, and more establishes MFS as a complete, one-stop shop for home and workplace safety equipment. Specifically, You Will
- Work a standard work week from Monday to Friday while remaining flexible to accommodate our customers' needs, including availability for after-hours and weekend appointments.
- Conduct inspections on fire extinguishers in compliance with NFPA 10 standards, as well as kitchen extinguishing systems adhering to NFPA 17-17A and UL 300 regulations.
- Perform inspections and repairs on pre-engineered restaurant fire suppression systems produced by leading manufacturers such as ANSUL, Pyro Chem, RangeGuard, Kidde, Piranha, and others.
- Utilize a comprehensive understanding of NFPA guidelines, manufacturer specifications, and local fire codes pertaining to restaurant fire suppression systems and fire extinguishers.
- Offer on-site emergency troubleshooting services for fire suppression systems as needed.
- Identify any NFPA code violations and other non-conformance issues.
- Generate accurate and punctual inspection reports, complete with customer signatures, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail, to be submitted electronically (less commonly on paper from time to time).
- Maintain professionalism in communication and strive to deliver exceptional customer service at all times.
- Ensure a clean and safe work environment is maintained throughout all operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent, required.
- At least 3 years of experience inspecting restaurant fire suppression systems, required.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, required.
- Consent for a background check upon acceptance of the offer letter.
- Demonstrated track record of being reliable and having a strong work ethic.
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing in English and the ability to interact with customers, employees and vendors in a professional manner.
- Strong organizational and detail-oriented documentation skills (we use various online platforms such as Google Docs, Sharepoint, Servicetrade, etc.).
- Real time problem solving skills.
- Effective time management skills and the ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
