Position Summary
The Alarm Technician Helper at Marmic Fire and Safety assists with the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems and related equipment. This entry-level position supports Alarm Technicians by handling various tasks on-site, including system setup, testing, and troubleshooting. The Alarm Technician Helper will work closely with experienced technicians to learn about fire alarm systems, contribute to system inspections, and ensure the reliability and compliance of installed systems. This role requires a proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Core Responsibilities
- Assistance with Installation:
- Assist in the installation of fire alarm systems, including wiring, mounting devices, and connecting components.
- Help set up and test alarm systems to ensure proper operation and compliance with safety standards.
- System Testing and Troubleshooting:
- Support the testing of alarm systems and components to verify functionality and identify any issues.
- Provide assistance with troubleshooting and repair of defective or malfunctioning systems.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of installation, testing, and maintenance activities.
- Prepare reports on system performance and any issues encountered during work.
- Maintenance and Support:
- Assist in routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, calibrating, and inspecting alarm systems.
- Help with minor repairs and adjustments as directed by Alarm Technicians.
- Customer Interaction:
- Communicate with clients to provide updates on work progress and address any immediate concerns.
- Ensure a professional and courteous interaction with clients and other stakeholders.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures to maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Learning and Development:
- Participate in on-the-job training and company-provided training programs to develop technical skills and knowledge.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in fire alarm technology and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a professional attitude.
- Ability to use hand tools and basic electrical testing equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Must pass pre-employment background checks and drug screenings, with ongoing compliance throughout employment.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting and moving equipment over 50 lbs., and working in challenging positions such as climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and be on-call as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems or willingness to obtain certification.
- Experience or coursework related to fire alarm systems or electronics.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including NFPA standards.
- Basic understanding of AD/DC circuitry and low voltage systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages.
